Bakelite - Paper & Fabric
Commonly refered to as Bakelite, because the resin Bakelite was developed in 1904 and used extensively for mouldings and also electrical insulating applications.
There are 2 types available, with variations of grades within these 2 categories.
Paper Bakelite
Laminated sheets of paper with a synthetic resin formed into a dense laminate.
Characteristics, from Low to High voltage insulation properties, a punchable grade and another suited to immersion in transformer oil.
Fabric Bakelite
Construction of layers of woven cloth bonded with a synthetic resin, which results in a product with excellent mechanical & wear resistant properties.
A fine weave & general purpose grade available.
Typical applications are mechanical, not generally electrical, such as wear plates Gears, pulleys, Pile driving
Melamine Glass
Manufactured from a woven glass cloth & melamine resin, this product offers excellent electrical insulation and mechanical properties, with low moisture absorption.
It has superior Arc resistant capabilities and Flame retardant properties.
Typical applications are Arc shields and Arc chutes, as well as Switch barriers.
Nema Grade: G9
